Tone and Condition

“The Barre classes are fabulous. The sessions are professional and fun”

What is the Barre?

The Body Sculpting, Fat Burning Workout.

It's all the craze in the USA and now you can get your body "MTV video" ready with the 60minute total body workout that defines and tones the body, giving you a long lean, supple 'dancer' look.

Combining elements of Pilates, Dance and resistance training, devised and refined by a professional dancer creating a simple effective routine performed on a ballet barre, with light weights and using your own body resistance.

Now anyone can get a dancers body, even if you have zero rhythm and 2 left feet, there's not reason you shouldn't have flat abs, a pert behind and limbs that go on for days!

What does it do?

The dancers workout… without the dance.

The Barre takes the most effective dance training moves and strips them down to the base mechanics of the movement (removing all the "fluffy" stuff), these muscle mechanics make up the Barre routine.

Short series of small, intense movements targets individual muscle groups to a fast "burn", which is immediately followed by a stretching series of that muscle group.

The 60 minute workout covers the entire body, leaves you feeling invigorated (sometimes slightly wobbly - but in a good way) and the workout produces, a defined, lean, muscular body shape akin to that of a dancer - not bad for never having done a "pirouette" in your life!

What are the benefits of a Barre Body?

Good posture is integral to helping our bodies cope with the demands of everyday life.

In a world where many of us are under strain and tension, a sense of body awareness can aid breathing control and stress management. Many common aches and pains can be alleviated by postural correction, which in turn can help prevent back, shoulder and neck problems.

Exercises which focus on the core muscles of the body not only improve strength and stability but also work to maintain good spinal alignment. A programme of combined stretching and strengthening can help maintain joint and muscle flexibility and avoid injuries caused by poor posture and lack of core stability.

Class packages expire 1 year after the date of purchase. Monthly unlimited passes expire 1 month from the date of purchase. The BWDC package expires 6 weeks from the date of purchase (Yes, we know this isn't rocket science people but sometimes you just have to clarify these things). Single classes, packages and passes are non-refundable. If you cancel a reservation, the session will be credited to use towards any barre session of your choice. Purchases will not be refunded to your credit card. Class schedules, instructor assignment and pricing are subject to change without notice. For safety reasons, latecomers may join class at the discretion of the instructor only. You may not join any class 10 minutes after commencement.

Wear something comfortable to move in, there is equal amounts of stretching to strengthening during the class. Make sure it's not too baggy, form fitting clothing is better for the exercises and easier for your Barre Instructor to check your form. No shoes, just socks for the workout, and a bottle of water is always a good idea!
